Meet Dr. John Piotrowski of Advocate Condell

advocatehealth

Meet Dr. John Piotrowski — He has been an emergency physician for more than 20 years, with the majority of that time being at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. The diverse and high-stakes nature of emergency medicine drew Dr. Piotrowski to the field early in his career. “I wanted my practice of medicine to involve caring for the sickest patients at the time when they need the most care,” Dr. Piotrowski says. “I get to practice across many disciplines, from cardiology to pediatrics to trauma. It’s the variety that keeps me sharp.”

J-RATE course (June 5-6)

Mass Casualty Incidents, specifically those involving violent threats, have become more frequent and more dangerous. Current MCI protocols inadequately address certain features of these “all hazards” events.

The Joint Response to Active Threat Events (J-RATE) course is designed to provide Law Enforcement, Fire, and EMS personnel with solutions to such challenges.

Utilizing principles from the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT), Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) curriculum, and the Rescue Task Force (RTF) model, participants will learn specialized tactics and techniques to manage scenes in a rapid and integrated fashion.

J-RATE instructors include experienced regional leaders in Tactical Law Enforcement, Fire Service officers, Emergency Medicine, and Tactical EMS. They will provide didactic and scenario-based exercises to deliver cutting-edge concepts in access, casualty assessment, injury management, and patient evacuation.

Medical skills will include ALS and BLS interventions appropriate for all levels of licensure. Law Enforcement attendees will receive a 4-year certification in Law Enforcement First Response and Tactical Casualty Care (LEFR-TCC) through NAEMT.

EMS participants will receive 8 hours of CE approved through the Commission on Accreditation for Pre-hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE).

ENROLLMENT IS LIMITED and seats fill quickly.

Advocate Condell Medical Center wins Truven 100 Top Hospitals award

100

Advocate Condell Medical Center

In recognition of its performance on patient safety, inpatient and outpatient care, financial stability, operational efficiency and patient experience, Advocate Condell Medical Center has once again been named to the 100 Top Hospitals list by Truven Health Analytics.

Truven Health 100 Top Hospitals is a quantitative study that annually identifies 100 US hospitals with the highest achievement on a balanced scorecard.

The hospitals with the highest ranking on a composite score of 11 measures are the highest-achieving hospitals in the study.

Advocate Condell Medical Center was one of the 100 chosen from more than 3,000 hospitals in the country.

“This recognition of Condell’s organizational excellence is a reflection of our shared commitment to safety, quality and service among our physicians, nurses and associates. To be selected from 3,000 hospitals in the country is a testament to the outstanding care delivered every day,” said Dominica Tallarico, president of Advocate Condell Medical Center. “As Condell nears its 90th year of service to the community, we continue to provide an environment of care focused on excellence in patient safety and the best health outcomes delivered through exceptional service, always.”

For 24 years, the 100 Top Hospitals national benchmarks have set the standard for hospital-wide performance goals.

The program’s studies have also been the basis for academic research on leadership best practices.

Infinity HealthCare is proud to be partnered with a hospital that shares the same commitment to excellence and patient care.

Infinity HealthCare to provide emergency medical services in Oconto Falls

Infinity HealthCare has signed a deal to become the provider of emergency medical services at St. Clare Memorial, starting May 1.

The Oconto Falls’ former small-town hospital will soon be under the emergency care of  Infinity HealthCare providers.

St. Clare Memorial sees about 5,000 patients annually in its emergency department.

Infinity HealthCare offers the emergency patients improved care under a talented network of innovative physicians.

This new contract includes the introduction of tele-robotic equipment that will enable Infinity HealthCare’s off-site specialists to examine St. Clare Memorial patients remotely, using a robotic device.

The current facility, built in 1972, has been expanded many times and now includes a variety of services.

Although community-owned-and-operated, the hospital affiliated with the Catholic-based Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) in 2014.

Multiple other HSHS hospitals have also outsourced their emergency room operations to Infinity HealthCare.

St. Clare obtained a similar arrangement to address some of the obstacles associated with rural hospitals.

Infinity Sponsors Mock Shooter EMS Training Event

EMS.CHASE_180

On Thursday, January 19th a joint training event was held in downtown Milwaukee at the Farbman Group Chase Tower where Infinity HealthCare’s corporate office is based.

Members of the Kenosha Sheriff’s Tactical Response Team and Racine County Sheriff’s SWAT Team participated in an active shooter training exercise sponsored in part by Infinity HealthCare.

Using a recently vacated floor, participants practiced integrating point-of-wounding care into different facets of high threat scenarios.

Infinity’s own Ben Kessel, PA and Ben Feinzimer, DO led the medical training for this course.

Kessel is nationally certified as a Course Coordinator through the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) to provide certification courses in tactical medicine to EMS providers and law enforcement personnel.

With an unfortunate increase in frequency of these dangerous events happening in the United States, law enforcement officers have been forced to incorporate more medical management into their daily work lives.

Infinity extends its appreciation to the members of both law enforcement agencies for their participation in this course, as well as the Farbman Group for donating the training space to complete these vital training efforts to EMS and law enforcement personnel.

Stay tuned for more photos and a video from the event!
