Froedtert Health Community Memorial Hospital

Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin

Froedtert Health Community Memorial Hospital opened July 1, 1964 as a 61-bed, general acute-care, not-for-profit hospital. Today, the hospital is licensed for more than 200 beds, has a state-of- the-art 20-bed ICU and serves a population of more than one-half million people in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington and Ozaukee counties. This hospital is a member of Froedtert Health, a regional hospital system that includes Froedtert Hospital, Milwaukee; Froedtert Health Community Memorial Hospital, Menomonee Falls; and West Bend Clinic.

The hospital has excellent on-call coverage ranging from plastics to neurosurgical services. Froedtert Health Community Memorial Hospital is a progressive institution that has received the gold seal of approval for Primary Stroke Centers from the Joint Commission. The hospital also has an excellent cardiothoracic program that has met or exceeded all Joint Commission core measures as they relate to acute myocardial infarction.  The hospital has taken a major step toward improving patient care, safety, confidentiality, and efficiency through the institution of EPIC, an inpatient electronic medical record.

With an annual volume of 20,000 patients, the ED patient flow is typically smooth and efficient. The Emergency Department census continues to grow and the overall patient acuity is high, as reflected by a 25% admission rate, which is approximately 50% of all hospital admissions. The average length of stay in the department is 2.3 hours. This can be attributed to rapid turn-around times for lab and x-rays and prompt response times from consulting physicians.
