Marinette, Wisconsin is located along the shoreline of the scenic Bay of Green Bay at the mouth of the historic Menominee River. It borders Menominee, Michigan, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and is a mere 45 minutes from Green Bay. It is a small community with a population over 11,000. The Marinette area is home to a variety of industries, including shipbuilding, auto parts, chemicals, helicopters, airplane components, and paper making. Scenic parks, trails and waterfalls, a variety of recreational activities, such as boating, hunting, camping, biking, and snowmobiling, in over 230,000 acres of county and state forest lands, are all part of the many magnificent opportunities to experience. Exceptional inland waters include acres of lakes and miles of trout streams for the canoe, kayak and fishing enthusiasts. Marinette offers a diverse selection of venues for the Arts, from concerts and events to theatrical plays at the local university. Marinette is a city with outstanding public and private schools which strive on educational excellence, and is home to the University of Wisconsin–Marinette. It is located about 50 miles north of Green Bay, Wisconsin, with access to major highways, nearby Twin-County Airport, in neighboring Menominee, MI, train, and taxi service.
